About Us

A community‑driven makerspace for learning, building, and sharing

How It Started

The O’Town Garage began in 2017, when a group of local technology enthusiasts realized that Odense lacked a public, accessible place where people could learn, experiment, and turn their ideas into physical reality. They envisioned a workshop open to everyone — a space where tools, knowledge, and community could come together.

How It’s Going

What began with a focus on advanced technology and robotics gradually transformed into a community‑driven workshop shaped by the diverse interests of its members. Today, the O’Town Garage is a warm, welcoming environment where people explore everything from electronics and woodworking to 3D printing, crafting, cosplay builds, repairs, and prototyping.

The makerspace offers the tools and space needed to support an entire creative process — from early sketches and prototypes to finished projects. Members work independently on their own ideas while benefiting from the informal knowledge‑sharing and collaboration that naturally occur in a shared workshop.

Who We Are

Run entirely by volunteers through a nonprofit board, the O’Town Garage is home to a growing group of around 30 active members. Together, they maintain a space that remains open to the public, affordable, and grounded in the belief that learning and creating should be accessible to everyone.

Whether you’re an experienced maker or someone simply curious to try something new, the O’Town Garage provides a place where you can learn, build, and become part of a supportive community of creators.

Our Journey

2017

Founding the Makerspace

A small group of local technology enthusiasts recognized the need for an open, public workshop in Odense. Together, they created the city’s first fully independent makerspace.

2018

Building a Community

The makerspace evolved organically as new members joined with interests ranging from electronics to woodworking, 3D printing, crafting, and prototyping.

2021

Relocation & Renewal

The space moved to its current location, allowing the community to reorganize and continue growing despite being displaced from its original site.

2022

Growth & Development

Membership expanded, more tools were added, and the culture of self‑directed creativity and mutual support strengthened.

Our Mission

To provide an open and accessible workshop where anyone can learn, build, experiment, and pursue their own creative or technical projects in a supportive community environment.

Our Vision

A city where everyone has the opportunity to explore ideas, develop hands‑on skills, and bring their projects to life through shared space, shared tools, and shared passion.

Our Values

Accessibility

We believe everyone should have access to the tools, space, and support needed to turn ideas into reality.

Independence

Members are encouraged to explore self‑directed projects, learn at their own pace, and build confidence through hands‑on experience.

Community

We support a culture where people share knowledge, help each other, and celebrate the joy of making.

Creativity

We make room for experimentation, problem‑solving, and imaginative thinking across all kinds of hobbies and disciplines.

Openness

We operate as a transparent, volunteer‑run nonprofit dedicated to serving the local community.

What We Do

Making & Fabrication

Members bring ideas to life using 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and hands-on crafting tools — from rough prototypes to polished finished pieces.

Craft & Artistry

Whether it’s cosplay builds, leather work, sewing, painting, or model making — the space supports creative projects of all kinds. If you can imagine it, you can build it here.

Woodworking & Metalworking

From furniture and sculpture to welding and forging — members work with wood and metal using both hand tools and power tools to create functional and artistic pieces.

Repair & Personal Projects

Fix what’s broken, improve what works, or build something entirely new. The makerspace gives you the tools and space to pursue your own ideas — from quick repairs to long-term passion projects.
